Located in Grenada North (Wellington), our vibrant community at KCA eagerly welcomes new volunteers like you. To ensure smooth access, having your own vehicle is necessary, with convenient off-street parking available right outside our warehouse.
Are you over 25 years old and hold a full car driver's license? Join us as a vital member of our team, operating our chiller truck for food rescue missions. We're looking for dedicated individuals to choose their preferred weekday (Tuesday or Thursday) for a weekly commitment from 8 am to 11:45 am, starting and finishing in Grenada North.
Upon arrival at our warehouse, you'll receive comprehensive training from our All Rounder staff member familiarizing yourself with the day's manifest. Personalized 1-on-1 training sessions and a detailed manual will be provided for your reference.
As a Chiller Truck Food Rescue Driver, you'll work closely with our volunteer admin person, sorting and boxing donated food from local supermarkets. It's crucial to meticulously check 'use by' and 'best before' dates before packing items into banana boxes, with all donated food weighed for reporting purposes.
You'll need to use your personal cellphone for store check-ins using the Woolworths Visitors app, ensuring minimal data usage. Manual check-ins at store customer service desks are also acceptable.
Effective communication skills are essential, along with careful driving of our chiller truck to adhere to allocated time slots at each store. Given the physical demands of the role, including heavy lifting of up to 15kgs individually or 20kgs shared between two people, a reasonable level of fitness is required. KCA provides a barrel trolley to assist with transporting stock to the chiller truck.
This role requires a once-a-week commitment for a minimum of 3 to 6 months. Join us in our mission to make a positive impact in our community through food rescue initiatives!
Are you ready to make a tangible impact in your community? Become a Warehouse Team Member and play a vital role in our mission to serve those in need. We're looking for dedicated individuals to commit to Mondays to Fridays (pick which day suits you) from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on a weekly basis.
Volunteers will need their own transportation to access our warehouse, as we're not located on a public transport route.
As a Warehouse Team Member, you'll be involved in sorting, boxing, and storing incoming donations, ranging from clothing and food to furniture and whiteware. Once you're familiar with our warehouse layout, you'll assist in fulfilling orders for our 90 partner agencies.
Additionally, each warehouse team takes responsibility for maintaining cleanliness by handling rubbish disposal, wiping down sorting tables, and vacuuming work areas. This collaborative effort ensures a clean and organized environment for all volunteers, managed through a convenient roster system.
Documenting donations through photographs and managing communications with partner agencies are integral aspects of this role. A friendly phone manner and proficiency with smartphone usage are essential skills.
Given the nature of the work, which may involve lifting boxes (done by two people), a reasonable level of fitness is required.
We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 to 6 months for this shift, providing you with the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. Join us in our commitment to community service and volunteerism!
