Donate Time

Our work may surprise you as we are now based in 1 large warehouse in Grenada North.

We need more volunteers to join our team so that we can continue the important work in the local community.  We have vacancies for volunteers to assist us on our food rescue operations and our non-food operations.

Every day kiwis find themselves in need: a mother and her children shifted to avoid family violence and needing support; children going hungry at school or others down on their luck.

We have over 90 volunteers who provide all the manpower required to run our operations and all donated food and goods that are fit for purpose are passed on to front line charities for FREE.

KCA is big; KCA is fast; KCA is flexible, and we help many in need.

Please note reliability and responsibility are key attributes that we require of our volunteers. All volunteers need to be able to lift 15-20kg boxes of stock (between 2 people)  and commit to volunteering with KCA for three months.  To volunteer with KCA you must be 14 years old or older.

Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday Warehouse Team Member 12.30pm to 2.30pm weekly commitment Grenada North

We are hoping to start additional shifts to keep up with the demand due to Covid-19.

This role would be ideal for volunteers who have their own transport to get to our warehouse in Grenada North.

We are looking for all rounders who can either assist us sorting and putting away non-food donations or assisting us on the food side of our operations.  At the end of each shift volunteers will be required to wipe down the sorting tables and vacuum the area that they have worked as part of good housekeeping.

You will be working as part of a team with our General Manager who will provide all training.

This is a weekly commitment and you must have your own transport to get to our warehouse based in Grenada North as we are not close to public transport. We also require a minimum of 3 months commitment as on the job training is provided.

The ideal candidate must be reliable and able to work as part of a team.

Please feel free to go to our website or Facebook page to learn more. I have also attached a video link to an article from 3 years ago. The only change in 3 years is the volumes of food that we are rescuing and redistributing.

Warehouse Team Members x 4 (based in Grenada North)

Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings 9.30am to 11.30am - weekly commitment

Volunteers will need their own transport to get to and from our warehouse in Grenada North as we are not on a public transport route.

This role involves sorting and boxing up all incoming donations which can be anything from clothing, shoes, food to putting away furniture and whiteware.  Once you have mastered where all our stock is in our warehouse you will be able to assist with making up the various orders from our 72 partner agencies that we distribute stock to.

Each warehouse team is also responsible for putting out the rubbish, taking away the reject clothing for the rag man, wiping down the sorting tables and hoovering the areas that you have worked it.  This is done by a roster system so you are only doing this once a month approx.

All donations coming in and going out will need to be photographed and uploaded on to our Facebook page.  A great phone manner is also required as our various partner agencies call or text us so you must be able to use a smart phone.

This role can involve some heavy lifting between 2 people so you must be reasonably fit.
